Chelsea to submit formal offer after Bayern consider that defender will be leaving club

Bayern munich chief executive karl-heinz rummenigge has accepted that the club are very likely to lose defender david alaba, with chelsea reportedly submitting a formal offer.

The austrian international is out of contract at the end of the season – having rejected a new deal reportedly worth £190,000 a week – and despite being a key player for the european champions, he could be on the move.

That has led to reports in the media that we are one of the clubs that are very interested in trying to secure a transfer deal for alaba, and will open talks about bringing him to the club when the winter window opens up in just a few weeks time.

Now, amid reports that we have submitted a formal offer to the defender, rummenigge has accepted that the club are very likely to lose the left-back: ‘bayern did everything we could to try and reach an agreement,’ rummenigge was quoted on bild

‘we had a lot of conversations, but we wanted answers from him by the end of october.

‘this didn’t happen and I don’t know if we’ll return to the negotiations.

‘what I want to be clear about is that our offer showed exactly how much we value him, but he didn’t accept it’

If bayern have given up the hope to keep hold of alaba at the club, then it will be a very good move for the club, if they can complete a deal, to sign the defender up, he is one of the very best in his position in world football.

He is world class and a player that we would love to see make the move to london
