Chelsea wants this €30M powerhouse defender after Ake and Koulibaly
This window is currently getting REALLY warm for Chelsea.
Although we haven’t signed anyone yet, it wouldn’t be surprising to learn that we’ve done so in the next two weeks.
Nathan Ake is close, Raheem Sterling is finished, and today we learned that Kalidou Koulibaly is in negotiations. But that’s not all; just today, Matt Law tweeted that Thomas Tuchel wants THREE new defenders this summer, with Ake and Koulibaly constituting the first two pieces of a significant addition that might also include Presnel Kimpembe.
The fact that Thomas Tuchel is familiar with the France defender from their time spent together at PSG fits with the current approach of the new ownership, which is to essentially give the coach what he wants in this transfer window. That seems like a sensible course of action in any case until we have a director of football in place.
The possibility of a third defender being considered dampens our initial optimism that a back four will be our main configuration next season.
