CONFIRM: Timo Werner reveals the number of goals he wants to score for Chelsea next season

Chelsea are the most active club in the transfer window this summer and have already secured five potential signings.

However, Chelsea new boy Timo Werner was one of the stars in the German Bundesliga last season, and if not for an impressive Robert Lewandowski, Werner would have been the top scorer in the league.

Werner scored an impressive 28 league goals last season for RB Leipzig, with Lewandowski bagging 34 to trump him to the top scorer award in the Bundesliga.

Nevertheless, it was a very fantastic season for the new Chelsea man as he even scored 34 goals in all competitions.

There’s a lot of pressure for Werner to replicate same level of success in the Chelsea team in the upcoming campaign, and the German is confident to score as many goals.

Asked about the high expectations since his move to Stamford Bridge, Werner said at a press conference with Germany’s national team: “I think that’s more of an incentive.

“What the club demands of me is no less than I demand of myself.

“The club has brought me to score goals and after 28 [league] goals for Leipzig I have not come to London to say a few is enough for me now.

“I want to prove it there as well as at Leipzig. ‘For me, this feels less like pressure, but also from the club side more like anticipation that I can help celebrate successes.”
