CONFIRMED: Chelsea legend set to play against Chelsea next season

According to reports, Chelsea legend Branislav Ivanovic is set to return to the Premier League to feature for Everton.

Now 36, Ivanovic left Russian club Zenit St Petersburg at the end of the season following the expiry of his contract and Serbian newspaper Novosti had reported negotiations are in the ‘final phase’ for Ivanovic to link up with former Chelsea manager Carlo Ancelotti at Goodison Park.

Ivanovic has recently confirmed in an interview for Novosti, that he’s set to continue his career with the Toffees.

“I will probably continue my career at Everton. I received a good offer from them. I will see how things will turn out,” he said.

Ivanovic recently won the Russian Premier League title and the Russian Cup double with Zenit St. Petersburg, and is leaving as a free agent, after an eventful time in Russia.

Meanwhile, Ivanovic joined Chelsea from Lokomotiv Moscow back in 2008 and spent nine glorious years at Stamford Bridge, scoring 34 goals in 377 appearances for the Blues across all competitions, winning three Premier League titles, three FA Cups, the League Cup, Europa League and Champions League.

Ancelotti used Ivanovic to good effect during his time at Chelsea, and the Italian is believed to be looking at another stint with the legendary Serbian.

The 36-years-old defender may not be the force he once was in the Premier League, but Ancelotti values his experience and would want him to help young defenders like Mason Holgate and Jarrad Branthwaite develop their game.
