Dimitar Berbatov has given his view on Philippe Coutinho’s transfer situation, with the likes of Chelsea linked with a move.
There has been some big speculation in the media over the past few days which have suggested that we are closing in on a £77 million deal for the former Liverpool man, as he is not wanted back at Barcelona in the summer and will be sold on.
There has been alot said about where Coutinho will be heading in the summer, and now Berbatov has come out and claimed that Coutinho needs to make the right transfer decision in the summer window
“There have been a lot of Premier League clubs linked with him, Arsenal, Chelsea, Newcastle and even Manchester United, but sometimes the obvious choice isn’t always the correct one,” the Bulgarian said on the Daily Express
“Everyone thought he would do great when he moved to Barcelona but it didn’t work out, sometimes you need to step back to go forwards, he will go to a good team there is no question about that, but he needs the trust of a manager to believe in him and make him the main man so that he can play calm and be free to do what he does.
“Other people will see him linked with a move to United and they will point out his connections with Liverpool and how he would never be forgiven if he switched to Old Trafford, but honestly, United don’t need him right now.”
Would we take Coutinho at Chelsea, Yes we would! if he was still performing at the same level he was when he was at Liverpool, but those days are gone, and there is some doubt to his ability at the top level now.
