Deal Agreed: Chelsea on the verge to announce signing of 31-goals forward

Chelsea have reportedly won the race for RB Leipzig forward Timo Werner.

The Germany international striker has been in fine form for his Bundesliga team during the 2019-20 season, founding back of the net 31 times and providing 12 assists in 40 games in all competitions.

The Merseyside Reds were believed to be the frontrunners for the 24-year-old striker, who is believed to have a €60m (£54m) release clause in his current contract with the German outfits.

However, according to Bild, the forward has now agreed on a five-year deal with the Blues worth £9m a year.

The report suggests that Timo Werner decided in March that he wanted to depart from RB Leipzig this summer and after the interest from the Merseyside Reds cooled, Frank Lampard’s team made their move.

However, it appears that the Blues, who are currently fourth in the English top-tier, have won the race for the forward after agreeing to meet the buy-out figure in his current deal.
