Deal AGREED: Player ‘agrees five-year deal’ to join Chelsea this summer as club chief confirms negotiations

Chelsea have already completed six signings so far and are in the verge of completing two or more signings before transfer window closes.

However, Rennes president Nicolas Holveck has confirmed Edouard Mendy wants to leave the club. The goalkeeper wants to join Chelsea and has reportedly agreed on a deal with the Blues.

Chelsea have long been linked with the Frenchman, as Frank Lampard lost his faith on Kepa Arrizabalaga. According to RMC, the 28-year-old has already agreed to a five-year-deal at Chelsea.

When asked about Mendy’s ongoing situation, Holveck said: “We’ve started official negotiations with Chelsea to sell Edouard Mendy. We know the player wants to leave [and join Chelsea].

But the agreement at the moment is not 100 per cent completed between the three parts.

Should Mendy complete his move to Stamford Bridge, Arrizabalaga’s future will be called into question following his sub-par performances towards the end of last season.
