Chelsea left-back Emerson Palmieri is reportedly on the brink of agreeing on a deal with Serie A champions Juventus.

However, Chelsea are expected to bring a new defender to Stamford Bridge during the upcoming summer transfer window, claiming that Emerson will be surplus to requirements next campaign.

The 25-year-old has played 18 games for Frank Lampard’s side this season, however, has largely struggled to hold down a regular spot and has not played in the English top-tier since winter transfer window.

Juve have been strongly rumoured with securing the services of the Italy international in recent weeks, and according to Tuttosport, the Old Lady are on the verge to agree on terms with Chelsea.

Emerson has previously played in the Italian top-tier for both AS Roma and Palermo, playing 47 games for the latter in all competitions before making the switch to Chelsea on a four-and-a-half-year deal in January 2018.

Lampard’s team are believed to be interested in securing the services of either Leicester City’s Ben Chilwell or Porto’s full-back Alex Telles during this summer’s transfer window to fill the troublesome spot in their starting XI.

Emerson Palmieri has been also rumoured with a switch to his former team AS Roma.
