Upcoming Chelsea vs Manchester city game Lampard sends strong message to Pep Guardiola

The Premier League set to restart on June 17, Premier League clubs have been made aware of the provisional fixture list.

Chelsea’s first game after the Premier League restarts is a trip to Villa Park to face relegation-battling Aston Villa. The date for the fixture is June 21 and the time is 4:30pm. The Blues beat Aston Villa 2-1 in the reverse fixture at Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea’s next Premier League is at Stamford Bridge against defending champions Manchester City. The date for the fixture is Thursday June 25 and the time is 8:15pm. Chelsea lost the reverse fixture at the Etihad Stadium 2-1. From facing a team second from bottom in the table and battling relegation to the team second from top, Chelsea boss Frank Lampard has something very interesting to say.

Lampard told the Chelsea official website about the upcoming games: “We’re all excited. We were waiting to see when the games would be. I had presumed they would be in the same order, but the Manchester City game [which had been postponed due to the FA Cup quarter-finals] was of interest, where that was going to go.

“It’s an extra game in week one, but more than anything we’re just excited to have confirmation of the dates. We’ve been waiting for a date to work towards in terms of how we’re working in pre-season, so we are particularly happy to get the first date of the Aston Villa game. Then we know the games are coming pretty quickly after that. It’s important we get our preparation right.”

Lampard also observed that his first two games will be two extremely different matches.

“With so much time off, and so much time to sit and scrutinise the table and your positions, for everyone there is going to be so much spotlight on this,” Lampard noted.

“Every game now in the nine league games is going to have something on it for different reasons. The first two games are good examples of that. Villa are fighting for their lives, City have huge quality, we know that. It’s a difficult start and we’ll need to be ready.”
