According to The Telegraph last night, Chelsea believe they can sign Havertz for £70 million, should Leverkusen fail to qualify for Champions League football.
At the moment Bayer value the 21-year old rising star at £90 million, but Chelsea only want to pay up to £70 million.
But there is a belief that the asking price may have to drop if Leverkusen fail to finish in the top four.
Chelsea ‘sense an opportunity’ with Havertz, as his other admirers Bayern Munich are only thought to be interested in him next summer, and Manchester United have other high profile targets such as Jadon Sancho and Jack Grealish.
Leverkusen are currently in 4th place in the Bundesliga, but only by 1 point.
