Decision already made over possible Lukaku return to Chelsea

Reports had linked the 28-year-old to a Chelsea return in the current transfer window, but he seems happy at the San Siro and desires a stay.

However, Romelu Lukaku has already decided against returning to the Stamford Bridge to join Chelsea making Inter Milan to be confident of having him beyound this summer.

Last season is one to boast of for Lukaku as he enjoyed an impressive campaign after scoring 30 goals and providing 11 assists in all competitions.

He continued his fine form during Belgium’s involvement at Euro 2020 before their quarter-final exit at the hands of Italy on Friday.

However, Antonio Conte’s sudden Inter exit earlier this summer left the futures of some of the players up in the air.

Fabrizio Romano, therefore helped clear the air as he confirmed that Lukaku won’t be walking away from the Serie A champions anytime soon.

On Friday, the Italian journalist told his Twitch stream that the former Manchester United star is staying in Milan this summer.

He said: “Lukaku is so happy with Inter. I think he is staying. The feeling at Inter is that Lukaku’s staying.

“After selling Hakimi I don’t see Inter selling another star this summer, unless there is a crazy bid.”

Ahead of Simone Inzaghi’s appointment as Antonio Conte’s successor, Lukaku confirmed his intention to stay to broadcaster VTM.

“Yes, I am staying. I feel good at Inter. I’ve already had contact with the man who normally becomes our new manager,” Lukaku explained.

“Maybe I shouldn’t say that yet … but it was a very positive conversation. There’s also the challenge of doing it again [winning the league].”

Chelsea may have a need for a striker but they won’t also insist on the return of Romelu Lukaku as they already have their eyes on Borussia Dortund star, Ering Haaland who is tipped to dump the Bundesliga outfit.
