Eden Hazard told Chelsea why they should sign Sergio Ramos
Former Chelsea player Eden Hazard has hailed Sergio Ramos as “one of the best defenders in history” as Chelsea continue to be among the potential suitors for the Spanish defender.
However, The 35-year-old defender recently announced his departure from Real Madrid having failed to agree a new contract with Los Blancos after 16 years at the club.
Ramos became a ‘Galatico’ in 2005 at the age of 19 after leaving Sevilla in a deal worth £24 million and went to become one of the most decorated footballers, winning four Champions Leagues and a World Cup among many more.
Meanwhile, The former Chelsea number ten claimed that Ramos has a lot left to give, despite his age, before admitting his desire to play alongside him again one day.
Eden Hazard said: “I wish him the best. We were together for two years. He is a leader.
“He is one of the best defenders in football’s history,” the 30-year-old winger continued, in-awe of his former teammate.
“I hope he carries on enjoying it.”
Hazard added that he would one day like to play alongside the five time La Liga champion again, amid reports claiming Chelsea have made Ramos an offer.
“I would have liked to have kept playing with him,” Hazard added. “He still has many goals to score.”
Ramos is also being monitored by Paris Saint Germain, Thomas Tuchel’s former side, who initially offered the Spaniard a one-year deal rather than a two-year deal, report L’Equipe.
L’Equipe also claimed that both parties would be interested in a one-year deal with the option for a further year – a very similar deal to Thiago Silva’s when he joined the Blues, who was aged 35 at the time, just like Ramos now.
