England boss confirmed Ben Chilwell’s return date

England boss confirmed Ben Chilwell’s return date

Chelsea left-back Ben Chilwell was subbed off after 38 minutes in England’s 2-0 loss to Belgium on Sunday.

Chilwell was forced off during England’s Nations League game with Belgium with what looked to be a back injury just after 38 minutes of the game, and speaking after the game, England boss Gareth Southgate hinted that it was a minor injury.

“He had some sort of issue with his back that he was complaining about and he didn’t feel he could carry on,” Southgate told reporters after the game.

“Outside of that I can’t give you any detail at the moment.”

According to reports from the Evening Standard, Ben Chilwell is in contention to play against Iceland in the Nations League on Wednesday, after undergoing fitness assessment with the England team.

The issue with Chilwell was described as a back spasm, and the Blues left-back was reportedly hopeful that it won’t sideline him for too long.

Frank Lampard will be hoping Chilwell returns in good shape to the Chelsea camp.
