EPL: Why Frank Lampard is still at Chelsea
Under normal circumstances, English manager Frank Lampard would have been sacked at Chelsea but for the fact that he is an English manager and has established connections in the circle, even as a former player with a great history at Stamford Bridge.
The Blues are currently 10th in the Premier League after six games and that is already getting everyone concerned against his great debut performance last season to have finished fourth to secure qualification to the Champions League.
There are doubts over the ability of the Blues manager to meet the target of the club this season with speculations that the club have held talks with his possible replacement.
Italian journalist Stefano Boldrini is one of those that believe that Frank Lampard is only lucky to have kept his job as Chelsea boss this far, noting that other managers would have been sacked.
Stefano Boldrini cited former Chelsea and Juventus manager, Maurizio Sarri as an example of managers that would have been sacked by the Blues owner if he had produced the type of results under the reigns of Frank Lampard this season.
Quoted by TuttoJuve, Stefano Boldrini said “If Sarri had had a start like Lampard this year at Chelsea he would be fired, Lampard was protected.
The former Chelsea midfielder was under fire at the start of the season as his job was linked to former Juventus boss Allegri earlier this season but he seems to be given time as it might be too early to judge.
However, there is a level of protection Frank Lampard will get as Chelsea boss and it could fade out if he fails to deliver good results at the club after about £200 million was invested in the summer transfer window on recruitment of players.
A Champions League qualification and title win is the target for Frank Lampard this season if he must continue to keep the job.
