Frank Lampard told the secret of Challenging for the EPL title

According to Arsenal legend Paul Merson, Chelsea have been tipped to challenge for the Premier League title this season but a lot has to be done by manager Frank Lampard before achieving it.

The Blues team are not far from the top as they sit fifth in the Premier League table, just three points behind leaders Leicester. The team have been consistent in their last couple of games and kept clean sheets.

Admitting that the Blues have what it takes to make a serious title challenge this season, Paul Merson says manager Frank Lampard must observe certain things to achieve his aim.

He noted that the Blues can be called title contenders as long as North London outfit Tottenham have been tipped to win the title because they have been able to do the right recruitment and solved some issues in the team, especially replacing Kepa Arrizabalaga with Edouard Mendy.

The Arsenal legend also hailed the performance of experienced defender Thiago Silva who has been impressive since he joined the club and has helped Kurt Zouma to improve.

The current Chelsea team is rich in quality but they might not achieve if Frank Lampard fails to make everyone happy.

“The problem is going to be keeping everyone happy and that’s going to be the hardest job in the world. You are going to have top, top-draw players not playing, and that’s hard.

“Kai Havertz wasn’t even in the squad [against Sheffield United] because he was unwell, and Christian Pulisic is injured, too. Mateo Kovacic played on Saturday, but he hasn’t been playing. That’s going to be the problem Chelsea have to contend with going forward. Is the squad too big?”

Howbeit, manager Frank Lampard must learn how to manage the team or risk wasting the quality and ending the season without a trophy.
