GOOD NEWS: Chelsea set to receive £48.7 million for forgotten striker

Due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, even football clubs are going to be financially affected by the economical crash.

This is why this piece of news will be very welcome for Chelsea.

In 2019 Chelsea loaned out striker Alvaro Morata to Atletico Madrid, and the deal had an obligation to buy at the end.

As we approach the end of the loan deal on July the 1st, Spanish publication Marca have revealed that the La Liga side will now pay Chelsea 55 million euros (£48.7 million) in order to sign the 27-year old on a permanent deal.

This is massive for Chelsea in the grand scale of things. Morata was poor at Chelsea and hasn’t exactly been on top form in Spain either. For Chelsea to get this amount of money for him during a pandemic, is quite something.

Chelsea will look to be recruiting new players themselves this summer, so this cash will certainly help out with that.
