The Premier League leaders Liverpool were thought to be leading the race for Chelsea transfer target Timo Werner but that has now changed following Liverpool’s latest decision on Werner.
According to Daily Mirror, Liverpool have made the shock decision to withdraw from transfer talks for the RB Leipzig star and will not make any further bids.
RB Leipzig are insisting on Werner’s release clause of £53 million and Liverpool aren’t willing to go higher than £30 million after being financially impacted by the coronavirus pandemic.
Liverpool’s decision to back out from the race for Werner means Chelsea are now leading the race to sign the German international.
