Positive update for Chelsea as Tagliafico’s Agent speaks out

The left-back position is a vital one that Chelsea boss Frank Lampard is keen on strengthening.

Lampard has often had to play right-back Cesar Azpilicueta in the left-back position, despite the availability of Marcos Alonso and Emerson Palmieri. The duo have failed to impress Lampard for most part of the season.

Chelsea have strongly been linked with Leicester City left-back Ben Chilwell, but that move seems impossible at this time – as the Foxes aren’t keen on losing him, and it will only take an outrageous figure to lure him out of the King Power Stadium. Such a deal definitely won’t be happening post Covid-19.

Alex Telles is the second left-back to have been linked with a move to Chelsea, but it’s yet to see if the Blues can seal a deal for the Brazilian left-back who is currently with Porto. Telles is attracting massive interest from Paris Saint-Germain as well. Meanwhile, Chelsea have the opportunity to sign Nicolas Tagliafico from Ajax for just £22.4m.

The 27-year-old is ready to leave Ajax after two and a half years at the club, and the left-back has been famed for his lung-bursting runs forward and his impressive stamina. He was a part of Ajax bustling side that reached the semi-final of the 2019 Champions League.

According to the Telegraph, Ajax have informed suitors that Tagliafico is available for £22.4m. This comes just after his agent Ricardo Schlieper, confirmed his client is on his way out of the Eredivisie.

He said: “We are looking for a transfer for Tagliafico. “We have agreed with Ajax that he would leave this year. After having spent two and a half seasons at the club, it’s the ideal moment for it. “If football goes back to being normal, a transfer could be done for Tagliafico.

“There are clubs that are interested but we have to see how everything pans out with football and the pandemic. “I will never mention a name of the club we are speaking with because it hurts the negotiations for us and the player.”
