Guardiola announcement opens door for Chelsea to seal possible £40 million deal

Pep Guardiola has cast doubt over defender John Stones’ future at Manchester City, opening the door for Chelsea to reignite their interest?

Guardiola has one of the best squads in the game right now and is tipped to add another centre-back to his squad this summer, with reports that he is keen to acquire the services of Napoli star Kalidou Koulibaly.

And that has led to some speculation in the media suggesting that he will need to offload a defender this transfer window to make room for a possible signing, with Stones one player tipped to leave the club.

The England International cost City £50 million when he joined from Everton over Four years ago, but last season he found himself on the bench more often than not as Guardiola has seemingly lost faith in his ability.

We have been long-term admirers of the Englishman, and with Frank Lampard seeking to add a proven Premier League defender to his side, there is now an opportunity for the club to swoop in and tempt Stones to London.

“I’ve said many times, and continue saying, I’m more than delighted with John Stones as a person, as a professional, everything,” Guardiola said at his press conference on Tuesday.

“What I want is the best for him and at the end of the season we are going to speak about what is going to happen, because sometimes my wish is not the wish of the players, or the wish for the situation of the club.

“I am honest with them and the moment I will feel – not with John but any player – if we have to change we are going to tell them.”
