Guardiola names three clubs who could compete with City And Liverpool for Premier League title

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has named three clubs, other than Liverpool, who could challenge for the Premier League title, alongside his own team.

Speaking at his press conference ahead of the clash against the Reds at the Etihad Stadium this evening, Guardiola said that Arsenal, Tottenham and Chelsea could all be in the running this season:

“Arsenal have made an incredibly big step forward to be a contender. And Tottenham. Mourinho’s now got the team like he wants. Chelsea… in the beginning was a little bit like this [wobbles his head], but now is stable, not conceding goals, scoring lots of goals, a big squad.”

However, Guardiola was less sure about rivals Manchester United, who have already lost three times in the league this campaign. Even so, he thinks the title race could go down to the wire this season, with a number of teams involved.

The 49-year-old feels that the last five to ten games could be crucial with many of the clubs he has named still in with a shout of finishing top. If City do get a win against Liverpool tonight, it will certainly open up the race, with it being so bunched up at the top of the table.
