“He had a little accident yesterday” – Tuchel confirms fresh injury blow in Chelsea training

Chelsea striker Armando Broja was hurt while working out, according to Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel.

However, The Blues’ opening preseason match against Club America on July 17 may be lost without the Albanian.

Broja progressed through Chelsea’s development programs before making his club debut in the 2019-20 season. The following season, he was loaned to Vitesse Arnhem to get vital playing time, and in 34 appearances for the team, he scored 11 goals.

Last summer, Southampton of the Premier League signed Broja on a season-long loan. After that, he played 38 appearances in all competitions, scoring nine goals, before joining Chelsea again this summer.

Romelu Lukaku left the team earlier this month and joined Inter Milan on loan, leaving the team lacking in forwards. During the team’s preseason trip, Broja was anticipated to be given the chance to shine and establish his value.

However, Tuchel revealed that he ‘landed in a funny way on his ankles and Achilles’. The German confirmed that the injury is not serious as ‘he is in pain but nothing is injured’.

As per Football.london, Tuchel said:

“He had a little accident yesterday in training with the ball control and landed in a funny way on his ankle and Achilles [tendon]. He is in pain but nothing is injured, we did the examinations and it’s just pain. He is lucky that he did not get injured. We are lucky and happy that he did not injure himself.”
