‘He has made no difference, worst signing’ – Chris Sutton labels Chelsea player as worst Chelsea signing so far

As we all know The Blues paid £97.5m for Romelu Lukaku during the summer transfer window, his transfer was hailed as a massive one for Chelsea, as the Belgian was seen as the missing piece in the Chelsea team.

However, Lukaku started his Chelsea career with a bang, as he scored three goals in his first three games. But things have since gone south for the Belgian, as the 28-year-old has scored 5 goals in 16 league appearances for the club and 8 in 24 games in all competitions.

Meanwhile, former Chelsea striker Chris Sutton has labelled the Chelsea striker as the worst signing of the summer transfer window.

Sutton Said: “I thought he’d (Romelu Lukaku) be the difference and that Chelsea would be this season’s title front-runners thanks to his goals but that hasn’t happened [he’s made no difference].

“He has only scored twice in the Premier League since September and instead brought heat on his manager Thomas Tuchel after that unsolicited interview. So he’s my disappointment of the season.”

In all fairness, while Lukaku has been poor in some games, he has also been explosive in some games (like against Arsenal). So we need to give the Belgian a bit more time to prove himself. Besides, injury and COVID have also contributed to his struggles.
