‘Help yourself, It’s a give and take’ – Tuchel fires strong warning to Chelsea star

Chelsea forward Timo Werner has struggled to perform for Chelsea since a £47m move in the summer of 2020.

This season, his performance has been worst, as he had only scored one goal in the Premier League before his brace against Southampton took his tally to three goals.

However, Timo Werner was on fire against the Saints, as he scored a brace and hit the woodwork three times.

Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel has revealed that he has trying to help Werner during his struggles, but has now told the 26-year-old German that he needs to help himself as well.

Tuchel said: “At some point there are no words, you have to help yourself. You sign up for Chelsea, you sign up for a top club, you have to live up to it and you have to accept the pressure that comes with it and you have to help yourself.

“That means in training and when you come on the pitch as a substitute. This is what it is and you have to be ready when the chance comes to be there and this is what he did.

“His attitude has always been good but he still needs to learn to adapt through moments like this, because he used to play regularly and used to play in teams that are built for him and he played for a transition team before, and sometimes we have a lot of ball possession.

“He took the chance and he made his point and could have scored more, but of course these are the kind of performances that strikers need and we need from the strikers. It’s a give and take.”
