‘He’s not up to Chelsea standard, don’t sign him’ – William Gallas warns Chelsea against signing 50m transfer target
According to reports, Kalidou Koulibaly was acquired by Chelsea from Napoli, and the Blues are hoping to add at least two more center backs before the season kicks off.
Following the departures of Antonio Rudiger and Andreas Christensen, Chelsea are lacking a center-back, which explains Thomas Tuchel’s selection of three center-backs, taking into account Thiago Silva’s advanced age of 38 as well.
According to reports, Chelsea and Manchester City defender Nathan Ake have already reached a personal contract agreement. The Blues have also been connected with Presnel Kimpembe, Jules Kounde, and Matthijs de Ligt.
William Gallas, a former Chelsea defender, has advised the team to concentrate on Kounde and De Ligt since Nathan Ake isn’t up to par with Chelsea’s standards.
“Those two players (De Ligt and Kounde) are really good defenders. I think they can fit at Chelsea, they are strong, very intelligent, powerful defenders,” Gallas told Metro.co.uk for Genting Casino.
“De Ligt, I am sure if he comes to the Premier League and Chelsea, I’m sure he will have a good season, better than at Juventus.
“Kounde is a young player but he’s very smart and can play with three at the back. For me, you have to be trying to buy those two players, it’s simple.
“You have to buy two players because Thiago Silva is old now, I don’t know if he’ll be able to play the whole season or next season if he’ll be at Chelsea. They have to look to buy De Ligt and Kounde.
“Ake from City? No. If I had a choice I would take De Ligt and Kounde, they are at another level.”
