‘He’s our best player, keeps City out of attack’: Chelsea fans reveals ‘one positive player’ in 1-0 defeat to Manchester City
The Blues suffered a narrow 1-0 defeat at the Etihad Stadium, but it was a contest where Thomas Tuchel’s men struggled on the ball and came up short in the final third.
However, despite the defeat some Blues fans on Twitter did at least find one positive from the display of their player Malang Sarr.
Kevin De Bruyne’s second-half goal proved to be the match-winner, as he curled in an effort from the edge of the box.
It means Chelsea are 13 points adrift of league leaders Man City. There are 16 games still remaining in the season, but it feels like Tuchel’s side may now shift their league focus on to staying in the top four.
Meanwhile, A selection of Chelsea supporters on social media believe that Sarr was one positive from today’s defeat.
The 22-year-old has been a fringe man in the squad at Stamford Bridge this season, but came in for just his second ever Premier League appearance.
In fairness, the centre-back found it difficult in possession like so many of his teammates. However, the youngster tried to stick to his task defensively and did make some eye-catching challenges.
For him, it was definitely a massive learning experience where the entire left side of the pitch was peppered by Man City’s in-form attacker Raheem Sterling.
It’s a worrying statistic that the Blues have just one clean sheet in their previous 10 league matches.
Below are some Chelsea fans discussing Sarr:
I’d keep Sarr for depth he’s actually not a bad option tbf did well to stop the counter attacks when we were trying to get the equaliser

Sarr and kepa were good and the performance today showed lukaku ziyech and pulisic should never play together again.

Commentators raving about Sterling personally thought Sarr had him in his back pocket that game

Sarr has been excellent minus the dodgy passes

Barring a couple of hiccups, Malang Sarr has been solid yet again. Clutching at straws but I’ll take the positive road. #MCICHE

Sarr was the only silver lining of the game. Played well. Thiago undoubtedly great as always. Rudiger too. Sarr increasingly edging far away from Christensen with each performance.
