“I am very surprised’ £50m defender is set for Chelsea move – as Frenchman sends message
Despite reports that Nathan Ake may move for Chelsea for £50 million, Chelsea has been advised against doing so.
It is no secret that Thomas Tuchel has to bolster his defensive lineup this summer, and it has been suggested that the German manager is keen to bringing back Stamford Bridge star Ake.
And the media has reported that Man City is extremely open to letting him go during this transfer window as they look to balance the books by letting a few players leave the team.
The Dutchman has spent the majority of his time with Man City as cover, never really given an opportunity to stand out in that team because Guardiola has struggled with that back line in recent years.
But in the midst of all the rumors that Chelsea is close to signing the player, former Chelsea defender Frank Lebeouf has spoken out to caution his old team against signing the gifted Dutchman.
He told ESPN: “I am very surprised.
“It’s like the same story with Lukaku. You want him. He doesn’t settle down very well, so you put him on loan.
“Then, he goes to Manchester City for a reason I don’t know still because maybe he wasn’t the first choice. But he does well for a number two in some positions.
“And he would go back to Chelsea for £50 million? You have the example of Lukaku and it didn’t work. You have so many examples of players who wanted to come back and it never worked.”
