‘I Believe he can! Lionel Messi reveals why Chelsea player could win the Ballon d’Or in the future
Chelsea golden boy Mason Mount was nominated for the prestigious Ballon d’Or award this year, finishing 19th on the list alongside Chelsea teammates Jorginho, who finished third, N’Golo Kante, who finished fifth, Romelu Lukaku and Cesar Azpilicueta.
However, The England International t is already proving himself to be one of the best players in world football, Just as Lionel Messi predicted.
At the age of 22, Mount already has a Champions League winner’s medal to his name, while with Chelsea top of the Premier League table a third of the way through the season, he could also add a Premier League winner’s medal to his collection too.
And if he carries on the same path, a Ballon d’Or win may not be out of the question for the Cobham, academy graduate.
However, The award was won by Messi for a record seventh time, after an incredible year in which he finally won silverware with Argentina, scooping the Copa America title.
And Messi believes Mount could go on an emulate him in winning the Ballon d’Or in the future.
Messi was previously asked to name 15 prodigies who he believes can be the future of the game, for a Topps ‘Lionel Messi-Designed Set’ card pack.

Mount is already proving that prediction right with a 19th-placed finish on this year’s Ballon d’Or shortlist.
Speaking before the awards ceremony, the Chelsea star could not quite believe he was named alongside such talents as Messi.
Mount said: “To be involved in something like this and to be selected to be in a category of 30 players of such standing is such a special achievement.
“I set goals and I want to achieve big things, but I didn’t ever think this would happen after two or three seasons. It’s blown my mind.”
