‘I don’t support Messi to win the Ballon d’Or’ – Former Chelsea star Samuel Eto’o reveals who deserves to win the Ballon d’Or

On November 29, The Ballon d’Or award winner for the year 2021 will soon be announced.

However, some of the favourites to win the Ballon d’Or award this year are PSG’s Lionel Messi, Bayern Munich striker Robert Lewandowski, Real Madrid striker Karim Benzema, Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah, Borussia Dortmund’s Erling Haaland and Chelsea midfielder Jorginho.

There’s no clearcut winner for this year’s award, and former Barcelona and Chelsea striker Samuel Eto’o has revealed that he is not backing former teammate Lionel Messi for the award, but would rather go for Real Madrid’s Benzema.

Samuel Eto’o has told the media, as per DefensaCentral: “I have a special love for Messi because I saw him grow up,”

“If we remove Leo, there are other [Ballon d’Or candidates] that I like. Like Benzema. He is a player that I love,” the Cameroonian added.

Meanwhile, 73-year-old former Juventus boss Marcello Lippi has backed Jorginho for the award.

“I would give it [Ballon d’Or 2021] to Jorginho,” 73-year-old Lippi told TMW.

“He has won everything and when one wins everything, it’s right that he gets this recognition.

“There are great champions who have won little or nothing, then champions who have won everything and must be rewarded.”
