“I don’t want Chelsea” – Klopp finally reveals why he’s afraid of facing Chelsea in the Champions League

There are three English sides left in the Champions League, and also two Spanish sides, one German side and a Portuguese club.

However, Chelsea have been drawn to face Real Madrid in the quarter-final of the Champions League, while Liverpool was paired with Benfica. Manchester City will face Atletico Madrid, and Bayern Munich will lock horns with Villarreal.

Liverpool and Chelsea have already met three times this season, with no winner coming out of the clash after normal time.

And Reds boss Jurgen Klopp has revealed that he doesn’t want to face Chelsea or even Manchester City until the final.

Reflecting on the Champions League draw, Klopp said at his pre-match press conference ahead of their FA Cup clash: “I would have taken everybody [in the Champions League], but the only thing I didn’t want was an English team [Manchester City and Chelsea].

“We had that in the past and we went through, we played a final against an English team, it is absolutely fine, in the final anyway you take whoever you get.

“We play [the English clubs] often enough during a season and it is good if you play somebody else.”
