“I have to regrets snubbing Liverpool for Chelsea” – £47m star player reveals
As we all know Timo Werner joined Chelsea from RB Leipzig for £47.5 million two years ago.
However, reports claims that Werner was on the verge of joining Liverpool before Chelsea snatched him away.
Werner was questioned what may have been, but he claims he has no regrets about the transfer because he went on to win the Champions League with Chelsea the following year.
Timo Werner told the Evening Standard when asked if he was close to joining Liverpool before joining Chelsea:
“The only thing I can say is they have a German manager.”
“I have known him for many years before, because when I was in Stuttgart, he talked about going to Dortmund. Then I played not so well, so it was done.
“When I was in Leipzig, I had the possibility to come to the Premier League. Liverpool were also in my thoughts and were a big possibility for me, but at the end I decided for Chelsea and I won the Champions League title last year. It was not the worst decision.”
