Following a successful season on loan at Southampton, Armando Broja was retained by Chelsea as a result of his performance.

However, When he came off the bench in the 72nd minute, the 20-year-old scored Chelsea’s first goal as a senior team member.

Broja scored Chelsea’s third goal of the evening against Wolves with a beautiful strike.

After the game, Chelsea manager Graham Potter praised Broja and acknowledged that his persistence paid off.

Potter said after the match: “It’s his first goal and he’s been having an impact off the bench. You can see what he brings to the team.

“Again, he’s having to be patient but he’s working hard in training and I think that goal is a big goal for him.

“The boys from the Academy are vital. They bring an understanding of the culture of the club, demands of the club, what’s required in terms of environment.

“They’ve come from a fantastic education from the Academy so they’re good people and they’re good footballers. Our job now is to maximise their potential, which is really exciting.”
