‘I respect Tuchel and Chelsea for that! Rio Ferdinand finally reveals why Man United cannot do what Chelsea have done

Few weeks ago, the media went agog with the news of Romelu Lukaku’s controversial interview he did with Sky Italia.

However, that now seems to be done and dusted as the Belgian has since apologised to the club and fans and every party has moved on.

Meanwhile, Manchester United legend Rio Ferdinand has reacted to the news and has claimed that he doesn’t think his former side could have handled the situation as maturely as Chelsea did – something he hasn’t seen at the club since Sir Alex Ferguson era.

He said: “Lukaku comes out and does an interview, whether you think it’s the right interview or not, or whether you think it’s right or wrong.

“That club and Thomas Tuchel from the front of that when they saw that, dealt with it quick. Nipped it in the bud.

“They said no, no, no, we are not having that. And by the way, you’re going to do an interview and apologise.

“It’s not being scared to do that with your £100m striker. Not any man who’s come through the youth system, that’s your £100m investment.

“That’s not happened at Man United at any point that I’m talking about.

“There’s been no time since Fergie left where you’ve thought, Man United have absolutely dealt with that situation. They haven’t allowed any disrespect.”
