The Blues were forced to name just six substitutes against Wolves, with two of those being goalkeepers Kepa Arrizabalaga and Marcus Bettinelli.
However, Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel admitted he was disappointed with the Premier League’s decision to reject Chelsea’s request to postpone Sunday’s Premier League game against Wolves.
It was a depleted Chelsea squad against Wolves on Sunday, and Tuchel was disappointed that the Premier League allowed the game to go on.
Chelsea’s bench was basically empty, with the spine of the squad out injured or with Covid, and Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp admitted that he felt sorry for his counterpart Thomas Tuchel.
“Thomas Tuchel… I saw the bench today from Chelsea, come on… he has to play [Mateo] Kovacic, he has to come back from a long-term injury.” Klopp said in an interview with Sky Sports.
