‘I was crying, after the phone call’ — Chelsea player reveals as he’s set to leave club at the end of the season

As we all know Charly Musonda joined Chelsea back in 2012 with so much prospects, and the Belgium whizkid was tipped for greatness.

However, Musonda went through the ranks at Chelsea before reaching the age to go out on loan.

In between a series of loan spell, Musonda made seven senior appearances for Chelsea. While on loan at Vitesse Arnhem, Musonda damaged his posterior cruciate ligament, and doctors told him he may never play again.

A determined Musonda decided not to quit, and after nearly two years out of the game, the 25-year-old defied the odds as he made a sensational return to Chelsea’s Under-23s earlier this season.

Musonda has now admitted that his time is up at the club, and he has revealed how he cried so much to leave a club he has called home for nearly a decade.

Musonda said about his decision: “It’s been a difficult one.”

“Even the post on Instagram, I wasn’t going to be too emotional with it because I didn’t want to go long into the details and go long into the memories of everything.

“I spoke with Petr Cech in August on the phone and after those talks, I knew straight away, okay, I’m going to leave in August here, there is nothing else I can do.

“After the phone call, I was literally crying because I’d been there for a while. Even now, it’s going to take some time to get around it.”
