‘If Chelsea complete his signing they will win the league’ — Man City legend tells Chelsea
Chelsea are close to secure the signing of Romelu Lukaku as the Belgian striker set to become the club’s main striker for next season.
However, The Blues have been linked with a move for a top striker all summer, and deals for Erling Haaland, Harry Kane and Robert Lewandowski proved to be abortive.
Meanwhile, Chelsea seem to have made progress in a bid to bring Lukaku to Stamford Bridge.
Inter had first insisted that their main man wasn’t for sale, but are now willing to listen to offers from Chelsea, that is believed to be in excess of £100m.
Lukaku will now have a second stint at the club, as his first stint didn’t end well for a then emerging talent.
Going to play under Antonio Conte at Inter Milan, has made Lukaku a better striker, as the former Chelsea boss has sharpened the edges in his game.
Lukaku scored 64 goals in 95 matches for Inter Milan over the past two seasons, and former Manchester City winger Trevor Sinclair believes Chelsea would beat Manchester City to the Premier League title if they make this signing.
He told talkSPORT: “If Chelsea get Romelu Lukaku, they win the Premier League, unless Manchester City do more business. That’s the way I look at it. It’s as simple as that.
“If Chelsea land Lukaku, which is looking pretty likely, and Man City don’t get another striker other than [Gabriel] Jesus, I think Chelsea win the Premier League.”
