In less than 12 hours, Chelsea player to get his medical ahead of Stamford Bridge exit
Romelu Lukaku, a striker for Chelsea, is about to complete a transfer to Inter Milan, where he previously played.
Romelu Lukaku is scheduled to arrive in Milan tonight in advance of his physical on Wednesday, according to verified reports.
Fabrizio Romano tweeted: “Romelu Lukaku will fly to Milano in the coming hours, Inter CEO Marotta has confirmed: “He’s arriving tonight probably. 🛩⚫️🔵 #Inter
“Medical on Wednesday morning, then loan deal until June 2023 to be announced with Chelsea – with no buy option/obligation clause. #CFC”
Lukaku is scheduled to be in Milan soon to finalize his transfer, according to Inter CEO Giuseppe Marotta, who told reporters outside an Italian Football Federation meeting in Rome on Tuesday afternoon that Lukaku will likely arrive “this evening.”
Romelu Lukaku is rumored to have taken a pay reduction in order to facilitate the loan agreement.
According to rumors, Thomas Tuchel is seeking a versatile attacker who can play across the lines rather than an outright striker to replace Romelu Lukaku.
Several forwards have been linked to Chelsea, but former Manchester United defender John O’Shea has recommended them to instead target Richarlison of Everton.
He told Paddy Power: “Strikers always command big fees and Richarlison and Dominic Calvert-Lewin are no different.
“Richarlison didn’t have the best of seasons last year, but he did turn up in a couple of big, important games for Everton and in an ideal scenario, Frank Lampard would look to hang on to him.
“But if Everton do sell Richarlison, whether he goes to Arsenal will depend on whether they can get both Raphinha and Gabriel Jesus in.
“If Romelu Lukaku leaves, there will be a space at Chelsea for him. One big transfer will probably trigger three or four other big transfers too.
“This is when everything gets moving and the excitement builds up as the start of the season approaches.”
