‘In those situations, is not about that! Rio Ferdinand slams Chelsea player for 3-2 defeat to West Ham

Chelsea had taken the lead twice in the game but still ended up on the losing side with West Ham scoring a late winner.

However, The Blues were favourites to beat West Ham at the London Stadium today, but the Blues surprisingly lost the game 3-2.

However, for West Ham’s opening goal, Jorginho gave a short back pass to Edouard Mendy who failed to clear the ball for a corner and ended up conceding a cheap penalty.

Reacting to the penalty incident, Manchester United legend Rio Ferdinand who was in the BT Sport studio, chose to blast Mendy for not clearing his lines on time and accused the Chelsea goalkeeper of trying to play perfect football.

Ferdinand told BT Sport: “Mostly with the goalkeeper, he has plenty of opportunity to clear this.

“Jorginho leaves the short pass, yes it is short but the goalkeeper gets there. Clear it straight away.

“He gets another chance to clear it and takes another touch then all of a sudden its panic stations and he gives away a penalty.

“Instead of taking that touch, give a throw in away. The problem is he has been caught trying to play perfect football. In those situations, it’s not about that.”
