Injury Blow: Chelsea full-back set to ruled out for several months
Chelsea defender Reece James could reportedly be forced to go under the knife with a lingering issue in his right knee.
The 21-year-old has kept the experienced right-back Cesar Azpilicueta out of Frank Lampard’s starting XI this campaign, with James starting 11 of the Blues 13 Premier League games this season.
James played the full 90 minutes in the Blues’ recent loss to Wolverhampton Wanderers, however, the defender is believed to have played through the pain barrier in that game and in the previous loss to Everton.
Now, The Athletic claims that James may have to undergo surgery on his knee problem, although the full extent of the 21-year-old injury is yet to be determined.
The England international will reportedly have the results of a scan back within the next two days and he has not yet been ruled out of the Blues game with West Ham United on Monday.
Callum Hudson-Odoi and Hakim Ziyech are Lampard’s only other injury concerns at the moment,, however, both forward are believed back within the next couple of weeks.
Meanwhile, Chelsea planning to make additions in the winter transfer window in order to compete for all possible trophies this season.
