‘It can’t be that hard’ – Glen Johnson tells Tuchel to keep the four devils he knows in his Chelsea team

As we all know, four Chelsea defenders are in the final year of their contract with the club, as Chelsea are set to lose Antonio Rudiger, Andreas Christensen, Thiago Silva and Cesar Azpilicueta as free agents at the end of the season.

However, the Blues are yet to extend the contracts of the four defenders, with Azpilicueta and Christensen linked with a move to Barcelona and Rudiger has also been linked with a high profile exit to Real Madrid, PSG or Bayern Munich.

Former Chelsea defender Glen Johnson has advised Thomas Tuchel to keep his current defenders, claiming that “the devil you know is better than the devil you don’t.”

“For me, the easiest option is to keep the guys that they have got, Christensen and certainly Rudiger has come on under Tuchel. Johnson told BoyleSports Football.

“You have got two good players there and it’s not easy to just go and buy someone. You have got two players there that know the club, know the league – it can’t be that hard to work out a contract renewal, can it? The devil you know is better than the devil you don’t.”
