‘It’s a matter of love and heart, let him go’ – Crespo backed Chelsea player decision to leave Chelsea

Hernan Crespo, a former Argentine great player, has backed Romelu Lukaku’s choice to rejoin Inter Milan.

After joining Chelsea for £97.5 in the summer of 2016, the Belgian star was unimpressive.

Lukaku was Chelsea’s standout player, but he didn’t live up to the hype, scoring just 8 Premier League goals the entire season.

The 29-year-return old’s to Inter Milan on a season-long loan agreement has already been finalized, cheering up the Inter faithful.

Similar to Lukaku, Crespo joined Claudio Ranieri’s Chelsea from Inter in 2003 and played for both teams.

Lukaku’s decision to go back has the full support of Crespo, who also revealed that he ‘hurried’ a move back to Milan as soon as he could.

However, According to Crespo, Lukaku was treated as a king at Inter, but not so at Chelsea.

Crespo told Gazzetta dello Sport: “Lukaku decided to return – at Inter he felt like a king, at Chelsea he didn’t,”

“So it’s a matter of love and heart. And when it comes to the heart, it almost always ends well.

“I also decided to return to Italy because I felt comfortable in Serie A, less in the Premier League.

“I was already in love with Milan, with Italian football, with Serie A. And then, for a footballer, Milan is really the best, there is a unique passion there.

“After the season at Chelsea, Ancelotti wanted me to be at Milan: I hurried there.

“But at the end of the season, and saddened by the loss in the Champions League final in Istanbul, I returned to Chelsea.”
