“It’s like a broken record” – Tuchel slams Chelsea star after shock performance in Leicester City draw
Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel was almost left in shock after Christian Pulisic’s huge miss in Thursday’s 1-1 draw with Leicester City.
Despite dominating the game once again, the Blues’ terrible home record continues.
Defensively, they were fairly solid despite James Maddison’s opening. It was Leicester City’s only shot on target all night, and it was a magnificent strike.
However, the forwards failed to deliver on the other end of the field. Reece James set up Marcos Alonso, his fellow winger, to tie the score.
Chelsea had three great chances in the game, and this was one of them. The other two were missed by Pulisic and Kai Havertz, respectively.
“It’s more than a chance,” the German told BBC Sport when asked about Pulisic’s miss.
“It [should have been] a ‘goal’ actually.
“In matches like this, you have to take these chances, otherwise you maybe let your opponents take the point, and you don’t get what you deserve.
“It’s like a broken record. It happens too often to us.”
That was not the only problem with the American’s performance in this game, though, as he also failed to create any goalscoring chances.
Brendan Rodgers’ men deserve some credit for their stubborn defence, but Chelsea forwards’ inconsistent form only helped the visitors.
On a more positive note, Chelsea had already secured a top-four finish even before the game, and the draw practically solidifies their third spot.
