‘July 2 he will join us’ – Tuchel reveals when promising star player will return to his Chelsea team

Callum Hudson-Odoi, a Chelsea winger, has been out for two months.

However, The 21-year-old suffered an injury in Chelsea’s FA Cup triumph over Luton Town in early March and hasn’t played since.

He was supposed to rejoin the team in April, but he had a relapse.

Hudson-Odoi, who has made 28 appearances for Chelsea this season, is yet to return to team training and is instead working on his individual skills in preparation for next season.

Tuchel revealed to the media today that Hudson-Odoi will return to squad training on July 2 as the team prepares for pre-season activity.

Tuchel said: “He is still in individual training, progressing, but not in team training,’

“Like Ben Chilwell he will come earlier to pre-season, to start an individual program to be back on 2 July for team training.”

Speaking in April, Thomas Tuchel said it was a shame Hudson-Odoi got injured at his highest point of the season when he was in top form.

The Blues boss said: “With Callum, it doesn’t look too good and it is not a matter of days at the moment, its more a matter of weeks.

“It’s a shame for Callum because it’s a setback for him. He started in the Club World Cup final and had an assist in that game. He was crucial on the left-hand side for us in that game and during that part of the season where he was playing and contributing regularly.

“It was probably the part of the season where he was playing his most regular football and was doing very well for us, sometimes as a left wing-back but mainly as a more attacking winger on the left.

“He was growing into his role and suddenly it stopped his season. It is not his fault, of course, but it is certainly a setback for him and for us to have him missing for a while now.”
