Just in: Chelsea and other Premier League clubs reach agreement after FIFA ban Thiago Silva

According to The Sun, Chelsea and other Premier League clubs have reportedly agreed to defy FIFA and play their ‘banned’ South and Central American stars this weekend.

FIFA placed a five-day ban on Thiago Silva and other Central and South American stars in the Premier League after Premier League clubs prevented the players from playing international games in red-list nations.

The other players involved are Liverpool’s Brazilian trio Alisson, Fabinho and Roberto Firmino, opponents Leeds’s Raphinha, Manchester City’s Ederson and Gabriel Jesus, Manchester United’s Fred, Wolves striker Raul Jimenez of Mexico, Newcastle’s Paraguay forward Miguel Almiron and Watford’s Francisco Sierralta, of Chile.

Not only would some of those players miss this weekend’s Premier League games, they would also be prevented from playing in the Champions League in midweek.

Premier League clubs reached the agreement to defy FIFA after three days of intensive talks between Premier League chiefs and Fifa failed to reach a deal.

The 20 Premier League clubs agreed none of them will make any complaints of other Prem sides fielding ‘ineligible’ players or seek action by the League against their rivals.

League bosses are not expected to open any investigations as a result of the collective decision.
