Just in: Pulisic receive ‘real pressure’ on Chelsea’s No.10 ahead of next season

The America captain, Christian Pulisic is known for his skills and pace on the break, but one thing the Chelsea No. 10 isn’t known for is his ability to press.

Thomas Tuchel loves to see his team press from high up, and while this is mostly seen in the games of Mason Mount and Timo Werner, it’s rarely seen from the American superstar.

Christian Pulisic’s dad, Mark Pulisic, has now fired pressure on his son ahead of next season. The senior Pulisic has told his son that it’s time for him to start putting pressure on opponents.

“He needs to do a better job when he puts pressure on [opponents], [it’s] to put real pressure on,” Mark told The Byline.

“There is pressure, then stopping before you engage, and then there is real pressure where you take that chance to poke a ball.

“You look at Mason Mount who does it very well, and even Timo Werner, who plays more on adrenaline, pace, and speed.

“Christian is too calculated at times. He wants to go, but he doesn’t want to go and take a chance and put that real pressure on where you go in and win the ball.

“That’s one thing for sure [where he can improve], we talk about it all the time.”

This is very good advice coming from the senior Pulisic. He surely has his son’s best interest at heart.

Meanwhile, according to stats from FBref, Mount finished last season with most attempted and successful pressures at Chelsea, with 685 and 205, respectively. Pulisic, on the other hand, attempted 336 pressures, with 109 being successful.
