According to latest reports, Conor Gallagher, a midfielder for Chelsea, has come under fire from certain Blues supporters for his lackluster performance against West Ham United.
Chelsea defeated West Ham today to avenge their loss to Southampton earlier in the week (September 3). They had to work extremely hard, but they still defeated the Irons 2-1.
Around the hour mark, Michail Antonio gave West Ham the lead and dealt the Blues a severe blow. Ben Chilwell, who entered the game as a replacement after the Hammers’ first goal, however, reset the score in the 76th minute.
Ten minutes later, Maxwel Cornet had another opportunity to give David Moyes’ team the lead, but the woodwork stopped him. As Kai Havertz went on to score at the opposite end of the field, the Irons were left to lament their lost opportunity.
For West Ham, Cornet scored right away, but the celebrations were short-lived. The goal was ruled to be invalid after the referee determined that Jarrod Bowen had intentionally fouled Chelsea goalkeeper Edouard Mendy.
Thus, Thomas Tuchel’s team went on to defeat their London rivals by a score of 2-1. With 10 points after the win, they have moved up to fifth place in the Premier League standings.
However, the Chelsea supporters were not happy with anything that happened at Stamford Bridge. They were especially disappointed in Gallagher’s performance that night.
After being left out of the lineup against Southampton, the 22-year-old made his way back into the starting lineup for the Blues. Some people were not upset that Tuchel started him in the first place, but their annoyance increased as a result of his performance.
