Chelsea star reveals he was pushed by fellow countryman to join the Blues in the summer

Chelsea has make some stunning signings and Kai Havertz is one of them. However, the German star has finally revealed who always text him to join Chelsea.

“Timo [Werner] helped me a lot. We know each other well from the national team. We’ve always been big friends,” Kai Havertz told Chelsea’s Youtube channel.

“When I got the news that he would change [clubs] of course we messaged like every day. He always said to me, ‘come, come [to Chelsea]!’ It was like every day

“Of course, it’s easier for me to have some German-speaking players here. We have Timo, Toni Rudiger and Pulisic and Kovacic can also speak German which is good for me.

“But I can speak English as well so I have a good relationship with every player but of course, me and Timo are big friends and it was very important for me that he made the step and I made it too. We’re really happy to be here.

“It’s a funny connection, we are friends and have a lot of fun. On the pitch, it’s also very good because we’ve played together often. We have a good connection on and off the pitch.”

However, Werner officially completed his move to Chelsea in June, nearly 3 months before Havertz joined the Blues.

The pair are starting to settle in really well at Chelsea, and are set to be leaders of Chelsea’s attack over the next decade.
