Reports have claimed Chelsea are ready to offer Kepa to Ajax in return for stopper Andre Onana in the summer window.
There has been a lot of speculation in the media over the past few months which has suggested that Frank Lampard is keen to offload Spanish stopper Kepa in the summer after becoming frustrated at the young mans performances on a weekly basis.
And that has led to speculation in the media suggesting that Lampard is keen to add a new stopper to the side, with Ajax ace Onana on the shopping list of the Chelsea boss after establishing himself as one of the best stoppers in Europe.
Onana helped Ajax reach the Champions League semi-finals last season and also helped the Dutch side regain their title after a few years of trying, and his performances caught the attentions of Chelsea, Real Madrid and Manchester United over the last couple of transfer windows, but it seemed that he had no desire to leave.
However, recent reports claimed that Chelsea are looking to try and convince the Ajax stopper to leave in the summer and come to the Premier League, with reports suggesting that Chelsea believe a fee of around £60 million could be enough to convince Ajax to sell on. But According to Football London, Chelsea could move for Onana in the summer and offer RB Leipzig a cash-plus-Kepa deal in order to win the race.
Kepa is wanted over in Spain, but with his massive asking price set above the £50 million mark, Chelsea may decide that Onana is the way forward and use Kepa in this swap deal, as the virus around the globe may hurt transfer deals.
The player recently signalled his intention to move on when he told Algemeen Dagblad: “Don’t get me wrong, I am very happy with Ajax and I am very grateful to the club.
“It was five great years here, but now my time has come to take a step. “I don’t yet know what will happen, but my ambitions and agreements are clear.”
If Lampard is desperate to add a stopper to the side in the summer, then Onana could be a great choice, he is proven at the top level and has the ability to be a real star in the Premier League, but Chelsea will have a battle trying to secure a deal. As we said, there is a lot f interest in Onana and the Blues will need Champions League football to win the chase, but if Lampard does want to improve the stopper situation , then guys, Onana is your man!
