Lampard has made transfer decision and wants £200,000-a-week world cup winner at Chelsea this summer

Reports have claimed that Frank Lampard has made a decision about Chelsea midfielder Ngolo Kante.

Kante is easily regarded as the best holding midfielder in the game right now and is a main reason why Chelsea were so defensively sound before Maurizio Sarri came in and decided to play the Frenchman in a more forward thinking attack.

But there was some speculation during the summer transfer window which suggested that French giants PSG were keen to try and take Kante back to his homeland, especially after he reportedly became unsettled under life with Sarri, but that does not seem to be the case under Frank Lampard.

He has been played in his more usual role just in front of the back-line this season and is starting to look like the world class midfielder that he developed into when he arrived at Stamford Bridge.

Despite all the transfer speculation surrounding his future at the club, and despite the fact that his contract is out of contract in 2023, and despite him limited game time this season, he is still considered very highly at Chelsea.

And now ESPN say Lampard wants French World Cup winner N’Golo Kante to stay at Chelsea beyond the summer, and will block any move made for the Frenchman when the transfer window opens up in just a few months time.

Look, Kante is one of the best midfielders in the game and it will come as some great news to many to hear that he has no desire to leave the club, especially as he is so important to the set-up at the club. But Chelsea may still need to offer him a new contract, as he will only be 30 in two years, and letting him leave for nothing will be a huge mistake.

So the news that Lampard does want to keep him, despite all the speculation in the media, is great news for the fans, as he is one of the players in the side that they would be foolish to let leave, especially as they are trying to build a side capable of winning the Premier League and Champions League titles.
