Lampard reveals when incoming Edouard Mendy will join Chelsea

According to reports, Chelsea boss Frank Lampard is interested in signing Rennes goalkeeper Edouard Mendy this summer as competition for Kepa Arrizabalaga at Chelsea.

According to reports, the 28 year old Senegalese international has agreed a five year deal ahead of his move to Chelsea but Rennes and Chelsea are yet to agree a fee for the goalkeeper.

In his pre-match press conference on Thursday, Lampard was asked to reveal when Chelsea will complete the deal for the goalkeeper.

Lampard replied: “It’s a situation I don’t want to be drawn on. Mendy is a Rennes player so it’s a non-starter for me to talk about at the minute.”

However, it appears it will only be a matter of time before a move is sanctioned following Rennes president Nicolas Holveck’s admission in a press conference on Wednesday.

When asked about Mendy’s ongoing situation, Holveck said: “We’ve started official negotiations with Chelsea to sell Edouard Mendy.

“We know the player wants to leave [and join Chelsea]. But the agreement at the moment is not 100 per cent completed between the three parts.”
