Lampard sends ‘massive message’ to Kai Havertz after scoring 3goals against Barnsley

Chelsea new signing Kai Havertz gave a five star performance as he scored a first senior career hat-trick in the 6-0 defeat of Barnsley, as the Blues cruised through the Carabao Cup third round tie.

Havertz had been slaughtered by critics after failing to perform in his first two games for Chelsea, but he has now redeemed himself with a top class performance against Barnsley.

Speaking about Kai Havertz, Chelsea manager Frank Lampard was very pleased with the performance of the German and believes this is the first of many to come.

Speaking about Havertz’s performance after the match, Lampard said: “I was delighted with Kai and everything of the night that I wanted from him.

“He showed some great stuff, had freedom behind Tammy and there was great combinations.”

He added: “It was a great exericse for him, another game to see how we want to work off the ball, but also have freedom on the ball and combinations with Tammy [Abraham]. “It’s the first of many great nights for him.”
